Its inception was made possible by the dedication of the members of Sri Jagajyothi Basaveshwara Sahakara Sangha(N), which was established in 1959 with the noble aim of offering high-quality education at an affordable price, particularly to underprivileged communities.

The Sri Jagajyothi Basaveshwara Sahakara Sangha (N) was established in 1959, born from the vision of a group of motivated, selfless individuals who saw the need for an educational institution in the Rajajinagar area of Bangalore. These founders were migrants from Mumbai, Karnataka, and the Hyderabad-Karnataka region during the reorganization of states.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science, 2nd Block Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, organized an Annual Special Camp at Vanakallu Ashrama, Nelamangala. The camp aimed to engage students in community service and social welfare activities.
The Electoral Literacy Club at Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science, 2nd Block Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sheeladevi S. Malimath, has played a significant role in promoting electoral awareness. Dr. Malimath serves as the South Zone Coordinator and has successfully organized approximately 90 programs in surrounding zonal areas, focusing on voter education and the importance of participating in democratic processes.
The Mahamane Kannada Sangha at Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science, 2nd Block Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, is a vibrant cultural group dedicated to promoting Kannada language, literature, and traditions. The sangha aims to preserve and celebrate Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage while fostering a sense of pride and unity among students.
Graduation Day at Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science, 2nd Block, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, was a memorable event held in 2024, organized with great enthusiasm by Principal Dr. Sheeladevi S. Malimath. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of students from all streams, including B.Com, BA, and B.Sc.
