The Sri Jagajyothi Basaveshwara Sahakara Sangha (N) was established in 1959, born from the vision of a group of motivated, selfless individuals who saw the need for an educational institution in the Rajajinagar area of Bangalore. These founders were migrants from Mumbai, Karnataka, and the Hyderabad-Karnataka region during the reorganization of states.
The Sangha began with a primary school in 1959-60 and has since expanded to operate 17 educational institutions, ranging from kindergarten to graduate colleges. The mission is to educate and empower children, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Sangha boasts spacious campuses in Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar, and Mahalakshmipuram, providing education to around 4,000 students annually and employment to over 300 staff members.
The management established a degree college in 1982, initially offering only a commerce faculty. The arts faculty was added in 1983, followed by the science faculty in 1991. From an initial cohort of 84 students, the degree college now serves over 600 students. Since 1998, the college has operated from its own spacious building, which was expanded in 2004. The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2010 with the inauguration of a modern library and auditorium. In celebration of the Sangha’s Golden Jubilee, the management is further expanding with a new building that will include a state-of-the-art auditorium and additional classrooms at its Rajajinagar campus.
Committed to providing quality education at an affordable cost while upholding principles of equity and inclusiveness, the management continues to strive for growth and innovation.
We warmly welcome all students to our institution.
