Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science, established in 1982, is the realization of the Sri Jagajyothi Sahakara Sangha’s vision to create an institution of higher learning. The college is dedicated to providing quality education at an affordable cost, promoting inclusive learning and adhering to the principles of Lord Basaveshwara, which emphasize simple living and high thinking.
The college places a strong emphasis on supporting students from socially and economically marginalized communities. Over 50% of our students benefit from various scholarships and financial aid programs. Additionally, remedial classes are available for slow learners, funded by the UGC.
The academic year 2010-11 was a significant milestone for the Basaveshwara community. Originally established with a focus on Commerce, the college has since expanded to include Arts, Science, and Management faculties. The silver jubilee celebration was a grand and fitting tribute to this growth.
Accredited by NAAC and reaccredited with a ‘B+’ grade in 2017 for another five years, the college continues to strive for excellence. Situated in a prime residential area with excellent connectivity to all parts of the city, the college features spacious, well-ventilated classrooms, broad corridors, and well-designed staircases. A large playground and a beautiful garden create a joyful learning environment.
Laboratory facilities have been significantly enhanced through UGC and internal funding. The library, now housed in a well-planned, well-lit, and spacious new floor, boasts a collection of over 26,000 books.
Committed to the holistic development of students, the college supports academic pursuits with a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. A supportive management and dedicated faculty ensure effective learning. Special lectures, seminars, and presentations enrich the educational experience, while value education and environmental and social awareness are integral parts of the curriculum. Sports and cultural activities also receive due importance, contributing to the overall growth of the students.
